The Right to the Shoreline

Created in collaboration with the Chicago Council of Global Affairs, this artwork explores issues that are raised in, “The Right to the
Shoreline: Race, Exclusion and Public Beaches in Metropolitan Chicago,” a policy paper written by Samuel Kling and Stephen Lucas. Both
the piece and the paper question assumptions about about beach access in Chicago and the North Shore and make the case that
the city and these communities still have far to go in providing equal availability for all residents to this significant resource.
