In 1994 John Pitman Weber, Dzine, and La Force Alphabetick collaborated to create this mural piece with the help of eight young people from Northwest Youth Outreach. The 27-foot wide and 69-foot long mural at the intersection of Narragansett and Irving Park depicts a spiral of arms moving clockwise with eight hands that reach for elements such as a computer, a clock, and a train. In the center of the spiral are six arrows pointing in different directions representing the logo of Northwest Youth Outreach. Billed as “not ‘graffiti’ but a spray/mural collaboration,” the six lead artists combined spray paint and acrylic to create the image that suggests the form of Shiva, as suggested by the title.
