CPAG PROJECT

Embracing Hope, Cook County Health Center Mosaic Mural

This mosaic mural was inspired by imagery drawn by Crane High School students during their workshops and a charrette (collaborative design session) with artists Mirtes Zwierzynski and Sonja Henderson. During these meetings, the students explored broad concepts such as health, healing, community, hope, and wellness. The students’ drawings were then utilized by Zwierzynski and Henderson to decide questions of composition, materials, color scheme, and scale.

The 250-square-foot mosaic is a delightful addition to the Cook County Health Center ambulatory hallway; it fills the enormous space with color and warmth and adds a sense of hope and well-being. The project was completed in 2018.
