Our Strength is Our Community, PrimeCare Health Mural

Our Strength is Our Community is a vibrant 20 x 60-foot mural depicting residents of the Belmont Cragin neighborhood. Soliciting passersby to participate in a photo-shoot enabled artist Rahmaan Statik to incorporate local faces in this project, which acknowledges the significance of current events and their impact on the community, promotes awareness of the importance of community health centers, and highlights the resilience of Belmont Cragin. The mural was created in the fall of 2020 and although COVID-19 restrictions necessitated creativity in soliciting community input, the use of virtual design workshops and an electronic neighborhood survey overcame many obstacles and ultimately informed the design. As a result, specific images were added to celebrate the Northwest Side neighborhood.
